INTER VALLEY HEALTH PLAN DONATES OVER 233 HOURS DURING SECOND ANNUAL HELPING HANDS WEEK

34 Percent Increase in Employee Volunteerism since Program’s Inception in 2009

POMONA, Calif., August 2, 2010 – Inter Valley Health Plan is proud to announce the results of its second annual Helping Hands Week, where 58 employees donated 233 hours of community service and administrative hours in preparation of the annual event. Inter Valley increased employee community involvement by 33 percent compared to 2009’s initial numbers. The week-long initiative benefited local non-profits Inland Valley Hope Partners and the Inland Valley Humane Society as well as offered crafty opportunities for employees to create hats, scarves, blankets and other helpful items for children on hospice and low-income seniors who are frail or wheelchair/house bound. Inter Valley also collected supplies and compiled first aid kits for Earthquake Preparation Kits to be handed out to over 250 low-income seniors during the Great California Shakeout in October 2010.

“We are so blessed to have employees who really understand our company vision of giving back to the community,” said Inter Valley Health Plan President and CEO Ronald H. Bolding. “Their volunteer spirit has carried on from our first Helping Hands Week last year, and they have continued to spread volunteerism in and out of the office all year long.”

Helping Hands Week started out as a fun way to give back to the community to recognize Inter Valley Health Plans 30th anniversary in 2009. The week-long initiative included over 50 Inter Valley employees who contributed more than 150 hours to 13 local non-profit organizations. The results externally and internally were so powerful that the organization extended Helping Hands Week into an annual program where employees are recognized for their volunteer efforts. A Helping Hands pin was created for employees showing an outstanding commitment to volunteerism and awarded at employee celebrations.

Inter Valley Health Plan supports over 40 significant charities and non-profit organizations each year through volunteering and contributions. For more information on the Inter Valley Health Plan, please visit www.IVHP.com or call (909) 623-6333.
