INTER VALLEY HEALTH PLAN RECEIVES 4-STAR RATING FROM MEDICARE
POMONA, Calif., December 17, 2010 – Inter Valley Health Plan (www.IVHP.com), a Pomona-based Medicare Advantage Health Plan, has received an overall plan rating of four out of five stars from Medicare for above average quality and performance. Given the upcoming open enrollment deadline on December 31, the Medicare rating system allows consumers to easily compare plans when choosing a Medicare provider.

Medicare’s evaluation of plans offering both health and drug services is based on 53 subject areas, which fall under a total of nine categories, including staying healthy, managing chronic conditions, health plan member complaints and appeals, telephone customer service and drug pricing and patient safety.
Information for the overall plan rating for health services providers is drawn from sources including member surveys conducted by Medicare, information from clinicians, results of Medicare’s regular monitoring services, and data submitted by the plans. For ratings of drug services providers, information comes from Medicare monitoring and member surveys, and reviews of billing and other information that plans submit to Medicare.
Prospective Medicare members and current members are encouraged to visit the Medicare website (www.medicare.gov) to choose a plan before the December 31, 2010 open enrollment deadline. Inter Valley Health Plan offers special plans designed to fit with members’ needs and lifestyles. One plan includes a gym membership for active seniors, and a special needs plan is tailored for individuals with congestive heart failure and/or diabetes and includes high drug coverage and specialized support that other health plans don’t offer.
