It’s always great to get away for awhile—see new places, meet new people and visit with family or old friends. But before you leave home remember the important precautions you should always take to make your travel go smoothly.
Plan Ahead and Save Money on Medications
- Make a checklist of all medications you will need. Refill maintenance medications in advance, prescriptions may cost more if purchased at an out-of- network pharmacy and are limited to a 31 day supply.
- Take advantage of the 90-day supply from contracted retail pharmacies. When you order by mail you also get a 90-day supply and you save more by paying only two copayments for three prescriptions.
- Refer to your Inter Valley Health Plan Evidence of Coverage for benefit guidelines, exclusions and limitations when traveling.
- Make sure that all your medications are carefully labeled, bagged and packed in your carry-on. (You run the risk of losing your medications should your luggage be lost.)
Have Your Affairs in Order
When traveling abroad, make sure you are covered for medical emergencies. Inter Valley Health Plan covers up to $20,000 for emergency services outside of the United States.
