While most people were sound asleep at 5 am on Saturday, September 12, employees from Desert Valley Hospital, Desert Valley Medical Group and Inter Valley Health Plan prepared for the Fourth Annual High Desert Fitness Challenge held at a variety of locations.
Inter Valley Health Plan participated for the first time as a major sponsor for the three week competition. Nearly 900 athletes from various corporations and 200 senior athletes participated in 29 Olympic-style events.
The Fitness Challenge promotes health and wellness by encouraging people to get fit and compete against each other. Local seniors are challenged to stay healthy and vital by competing with each other in events that include a fishing derby, domino tournaments, horseshoes and archery. Because vitality is a major focus of Inter Valley Health Plan, the employees enjoyed registering participants and awarding the medals.
