Medicare Advantage Plans are health plan options (like an HMO or PPO) approved by Medicare and offered by private companies like Inter Valley Health Plan. These plans are part of Medicare and are sometimes called “Part C” or “MA Plans.”
Medicare Advantage Plans provide all of your Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance) and usually Part D (Medicare drug coverage). If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, your Medicare benefits (Part A, Part B and in some cases, Part D) are covered through this one plan.

Most people can join a Medicare Advantage Plan if they meet certain criteria, including:
- You have Medicare Plan A and Medicare Plan B
- You live in the service area of the Medicare Advantage Plan provider
- You join during the Medicare Advantage Plan’s annual enrollment period
In addition, Medicare Advantage Plans generally require their members to choose a primary care physician within their provider networks. To join a Medicare Advantage Plan, you must also provide your Medicare number and the date your Plan A and Plan B coverage started (you can find this information on your Medicare card).
