Week-long Initiative will Provide Over 200 Hours of Service to Local Non-Profits

POMONA, Calif., July 9, 2009 – More than 50 Inter Valley Health Plan employees will donate more than 200 hours of community service during the Company’s Employee Community Involvement Week, July 13-17, 2009. The week-long initiative will benefit a number of local non-profit organizations, including American Cancer Society Thrift Shop, Community Senior Services, Inland Hospice, Inland Valley Hope Partners, Meals on Wheels, Visiting Nurse Association and the White Cane Center for the Blind.

“Inter Valley Health Plan is a great example of corporate responsibility and volunteerism,” said Floy Biggs, CEO of Community Senior Services. “We thank them for supporting CSS and other local non-profits, and helping to make a difference in the community.”

Inter Valley Health Plan (, a Pomona-based Medicare Advantage Organization, selected the non-profit organizations based on need and employee suggestions. Employees will be volunteering by organizing books, packaging goody bags, crafting gifts, organizing food pantries and more. Turning into a corporate team effort, employees have taken the initiative to reach out to medical vendors for additional donations, such as Kleenex, toothbrushes, etc., to include in the Meals on Wheels goody bags. Inter Valley Health Plan will also be donating over 200 books from their corporate library to the American Cancer Society Thrift Shop.

Bolding. “Being good corporate citizens, active in the communities we serve, is a major part of our companies core values. We are proud that our employees have fully embraced this company volunteer effort and will be providing meaningful support and help to some wonderful charitable organizations.”

Celebrating their 30th year in business, Inter Valley Health Plan will be continuing the festivities into September when they will host an anniversary fundraiser, where all proceeds with benefit Make a Senior Smile, a non-profit charity providing resources and life enrichment opportunities with the ultimate goal of generating smiles for seniors.
